AMIS and Screen Readers

Right now, there are JAWS scripts for AMIS.

Keyboard Shortcuts

The following keyboard shortcuts were created to give screen reader scripts some control over AMIS:

• Toggle content audio: Ctrl+Shift+F
• Toggle self-voicing audio: Ctrl+Shift+G
• Focus on sidebar: Ctrl+N
• Focus on text: Ctrl+T
• Reset highlight colors: Ctrl+Shift+E

Title Bar Text

The application title bar gives the status of the player. The fields are listed below.

Format

APP_NAME "BOOK_TITLE" VIEW_MODE - SELF_VOICING_MODE - PLAY_STATE

Field Values

• APP_NAME: usually "AMIS"
• BOOK_TITLE: the actual title of the book currently open
• VIEW_MODE: "Basic view mode" or "Standard view mode"
• SELF_VOICING_MODE: "Self-Voicing" or "No self-voicing"
• PLAY_STATE: "Playing..." or "Paused."
